Royal rules? “She wants something different for her children”

When Duchess Meghan became part of the British royal family, she knew about the upheavals ahead of her. But at the time, she was probably unaware of how far-reaching these would be. But at the latest after the birth of her first child, she is said to have realized that this world, which is determined by protocol, is no place for her offspring.
Marrying a prince and being a member of a royal family sounds like a dream to many romantics. Love brought Duchess Meghan, 41, to this supposedly magical, mysterious place. But after a very short time, the fairy tale became a horror scenario for the freedom-loving American. The rules in the palace almost seemed to overwhelm her. And unlike the Princess of Wales, 41, her sister-in-law hasn’t been able to struggle through all the stumbling blocks and adjust.

Duchess Meghan had great expectations
Catherine only had one advantage over Meghan: she too initially struggled with the royal rules and the suspicions of some members of the royal family. But Prince William’s wife, 40, bravely pursued the mission of adaptation. A bumpy path that the self-determined Meghan Markle could not and did not want to walk – and did not think she could expect her children either.
When the love for Harry and the future still looked rosy, the “Suits” actress got involved with happy expectations of the exciting, almost mystical environment of her lover with anticipation. Meghan apparently had high hopes for life in the palace alongside her husband. A fallacy! “I don’t think there has ever been a greater gap in history between what someone expects when they become a member of the royal family and what they actually experience. She was sorely disappointed,” she said former employee.
That made Meghan different from the Princess of Wales
Reality quickly caught up with the new family member. She soon noticed that she was treated in a “slightly condescending manner” at court. She missed the blue blood, just like Kate. However, she found a better way to deal with the latent condescension towards her because she “didn’t have Meghan’s messianic tendencies” and also let her charm play to win over the skeptics.

Another Sussexes official from their time in the royal fraternity echoed his colleague’s statements: “Meghan hated being controlled by royal protocol.” Their freedom has been massively restricted. “The fact that at Kensington Palace, for example, royals have to give advance notice of when they leave the palace and where they are going. This is partly for security, but also to avoid a senior royal being knocked out by a younger one Royal is eclipsed, leaving just when the more important person is leaving.”
This royal had sympathy for Meghan’s rule criticism
Meghan said the instruction was “silly”, while the palace described it as “absolutely necessary”. Except for one person who you would hardly expect. “I think Charles agreed with Meghan on a lot of points – he found a lot of the protocol silly but it’s hard to change,” said the Duchess’s former adviser.
While Meghan rebelled against the rules, Harry’s brother and sister-in-law complied. A decision that apparently also affects their children. “William went for it, which is why George and Louis and Charlotte are so conventional and 1950s-looking,” says the clerk.
Not an option for the Duchess of Sussex. “Meghan wants something different for her children. She wants American freedom to do and say what you want and go where you want.”
