The look that Duchess Meghan wears during the Oprah interview is reminiscent of Wallis Simpson, the ex-king's outcast wife. Intention?

A first excerpt from the eagerly awaited two-hour television interview of the royal dropouts Duchess Meghan (39) and Prince Harry (36) with US talk show host Oprah Winfrey (67) shows Meghan in a black silk dress with white floral prints and a V-neck of Italian luxury -Giorgio Armani fashion house. The styling seems to be well considered in several ways. The muted colors, for example, do not distract from the content. Much more amazing, however, is the similarity to the look of another American woman who married into the royal family – and thus significantly influenced their historical development.

Wallis Simpson (1896-1986), divorced twice, became the wife of former British King Edward VIII (1894-1972). Because of her, after the enthronement in January 1936, he had already given the crown to his younger brother, later King George VI, in December of the same year. (1895-1952), passed. Wallis Simpson and Edward were married on June 3, 1937 in France. Both died in Paris too.

A well-known portrait of Wallis Simpson was made around the time of the wedding. She wears the distinctive look on it. But not only Meghan's 4,700 dollar dress (the equivalent of around 3,900 euros) is reminiscent of that of the Duchess of Windsor, as Wallis Simpson was called after the wedding. The pinned back hairstyle with a center parting is also very similar to the historical figure.

Prince Harry also married a divorced American

Former US actress Meghan Markle ("Suits") was married to film producer Trevor Engelson (44) for two years before they divorced in 2013. She met Prince Harry through mutual friends in 2016, two years later they celebrated their dream wedding at Windsor Castle in spring 2018. In spring 2020 they withdrew from their official duties as senior royals and moved to California, USA with their son Archie (1). On Valentine's Day 2021, the couple announced that they were expecting a second child.

The tell-all interview is to be broadcast on March 7th on the US broadcaster CBS. But in view of the worrying news about Prince Harry's grandfather, Prince Philip (99), according to "The Sun", the demand to postpone the interview for reasons of piety is growing louder. The husband of Queen Elizabeth II (94) has to stay in the clinic at least until March 7th.
