A marriage of love. In 1995, Elena of Spain walked before the altar of the Cathedral of Seville to marry Jaime de Marichalar, son of the Count of Ripalda. For the elder girl of Juan Carlos from Spain and Sophie from Spain, with this professional financial advisor, it was the “love at first sight”, as reported by Núria Tiburcio, author of Elena: the infanta castizahas Point of view, last February. Yet, their love story ended in 2010, when was pronounced their divorce. From now on, the big sister of Felipe VI would make a point of honor take care of loved oneslike his exiled father, but also his two children: Felipe, who was born on July 17, 1998, and Victoria, born September 9, 2000.
Elena de Borbón y Grecia, who celebrates her 60th birthday this December 20, is dedicated to the education of one’s offspring. She enrolled her son at Cottesmore School in Sussex and then Blue Ridge, Virginia. A rebellious young man which she ended up sending to Abu Dhabi, where her grandfather lives in exile. Her sister Victoria, more studious, is an influencer very popular in Spain. Unlike her daughter, Elena of Spain, for her part, continued to cultivate a certain discretion, although many Spaniards have real admiration for her, and would even have liked to see her ascend the throne if her country had adopted absolute primogeniture. Asked by Point of viewdesigner Ágatha Ruiz de la Prada indicated that “would have even been normal from the point of view of women’s rights. I have never seen there the slightest inconveniencet.”
