A mosque was attacked during a demonstration in Leipzig. Thrown window panes and damaged emergency vehicles lead to several arrests. The police classify the group of 100 masked attackers as left-wing motivated.

There were riots at a demonstration in the east of the Leipzig city area. According to a police spokeswoman, participants set fire to garbage cans, damaged cars and also threw window panes at a mosque. Four window panes had been smashed. In addition, stones and paint bags were thrown at a police car and pyrotechnics were ignited.

According to the information, the emergency services identified several possible suspects. According to initial findings, the mosque was damaged in connection with an elevator by around 100 masked people, whom the police classified as a left-wing group. Along the nearby Eisenbahnstraße in the Volkmarsdorf district, the group would also have set fire to trash cans. The police took 11 people into custody.

In Leipzig and the surrounding area, according to the police, there were again protests by opponents of the campaigns to contain the corona pandemic, who were out in small groups in the evening in different places in the city. There were no rallies, however, and there were no incidents.
