xAI unveils Grok-1 under open source license

As announced on the xAI blog, Grok-1 is now available to everyone. The artificial intelligence in question is distributed under an open source license and is contained in a huge downloadable file. Grok-1 thus appears as a direct rival to the economic model of ChatGPT, the AI of OpenAI, a company of which Elon Musk is one of the co-founders.

The start-up xAI follows in the footsteps of the French artificial intelligence Mistral AI, by offering a torrent link which allows you to download its Grok-1 model. However, you will need to have a little patience and have ample storage space to take advantage of Grok-1: the file weighs a whopping 318.24 GB.

To stand out from its competitors, xAI highlights Grok-1’s ability to search for information in real time on X, the social network now owned by Elon Musk.
