PARIS (Reuters) – Europe should not be excluded from talks on Ukraine, French Secretary of State for European Affairs Clment Beaune said on Sunday.
“The Europeans must not be absent from the negotiation table,” he said on the CNews channel, while the United States and Russia must meet in Geneva to try to defuse the crisis that is playing out around the ‘Ukraine.
Moscow has amassed tens of thousands of soldiers on its border with Ukraine, a situation that Washington and Kiev analyze as a possible prelude to an invasion of Ukraine, eight years after the annexation of the Crimean Peninsula.
Regarding Kazakhstan, Clment Beaune felt that we could not crush a people and protesters who rebel.
Violent protests erupted in Kazakhstan this week amid inflation and rising energy prices.
The Kazakh authorities announced on Saturday the arrest of Karim Massimov, former head of the national security committee of Kazakhstan, on suspicion of treason.
On Sunday, they declared that they had stabilized the situation in the country and that “strategic sites” were now under the control of the military alliance led by Russia intended to restore order.
