As she reached her 78 years old this January 17, Francoise Hardy left it to his son Thomas Dutronc to celebrate the event with a nice declaration, while the photographer Jean-Marie Périer testified to his state of mind: “She fights.” The singer did not wait for the start of the Covid-19 pandemic in the spring of 2020 to confine herself to her apartment in the 16th arrondissement of Paris. Suffering from MALT lymphoma for 15 years and survivor of a second cancer of the pharynx, she had chosen to experience the side effects of her last radiotherapy – partial deafness, drying of the ENT area – in a semi-reclusion, a year earlier. We caught up with her a few days before her birthday. Françoise Hardy is worried. For France. For the two men in her life: Jacques Dutronc and their son Thomas.
While she was worried about the relaxation of the French in the face of the pandemic in the pages of Gala, in June, the interpreter of All the boys and girls supports Emmanuel Macron in his “wanting to piss off” vaccine refractory. She is concerned about the subject. Immunocompromised, she has no not had his doses, his doctor advised him not to be vaccinated. She would not have hesitated, if she had had the choice: “I have had a lymphocyte deficiency since 2015, while the effectiveness of the vaccine depends on the T lymphocytes. If the refractory can live confined, it is up to them not to be vaccinated. But if they want to live normally, see friends, the vaccine is the minimum required to protect yourself and others“, she pleads. And to add: “We forget that it is because vaccination against smallpox has been compulsory for a long time that this disease has been able to be eradicated.”

“Even if they have had their three vaccine doses and remain cautious…”
Its fragility and the pandemic have made it dependent on relatives, like Marc Maréchal, former director of promotion at Virgin Music to which she devotes “endless gratitude”. While currently residing in Corsica, father and son Dutronc are to go on tour together in the fall. With the reduction in gauges currently imposed, the case is upset. Many artists, like Julien Doré, have complained about this turn of the executive. For Francoise, “it is indeed incomprehensible that the same rules are not imposed on political meetings as on concerts and shows.” Even more upsetting for the Hardy icon: the exposure of the one who remains her husband and their son to contamination. “Even if they have had their three doses of vaccine and remain very cautious, I am constantly worried about them”, says the singer.
