FIFA and eFootball: Mason Greenwood removed from Konami and EA Games football games

The football community is unfortunately also affected by cases of sexual assault. Last year, Benjamin Mendy of Manchester City had been incarcerated, accused of assaulting and raping several women, and Electronic Arts quickly removed him from FIFA 22.

Well, on the side of the other Mancunian club, same fight. England striker Mason Greenwood, who plays at Manchester United this time, was accused by his ex-partner of sexual assault and rape. The 20-year-old was arrested and released on bail last week, but Konami takes no risks and has decided to remove Mason Greenwood from eFootball 2022 and the eFootball PES 2021 mobile game. In a press release addressed to Eurogamer, Konami declares:

In light of the serious allegations made against Mason Greenwood, the player will be removed from our football games until further notice.

Specifically for PES 2021 on mobile, users cannot obtain the new player, but existing owners are unaffected.

Konami condemns violence of any kind. While police investigations are ongoing, it would be inappropriate to comment further.

EA Games didn’t wait that long, with the Greenwood case breaking out late last month, it was removed from FIFA 22 as of February 1making it no longer available in packs WAS and Ultimate Draft. Its equipment supplier Nike had also canceled his contract in stride, and the player of Man U removed from the club until further notice. You can find FIFA 22without Benjamin Mendy or Mason Greenwood, at €23.99 at Gamesplanet.
