All that was missing was him! As part of his series of Pixel Remaster, Square-Enix had to come out the first 6 Final Fantasy in remastered versions closer to the originals than remakes on GBA and DS, even if it means losing their little something extra. We stopped at Final Fantasy V last October, it is now time for Final Fantasy VIwith a little delay as expected.
Its release date has just been set at February 23, 2022 on PC via SteamiOS through theApple Store and Android through the Google Play Storestill with reworked graphics and audio.
Originally released on the Super Nintendo in 1994, FINAL FANTASY VI in its Pixel Remaster version captures all the magic of the original with improved ergonomics. Players will embark on the timeless story that takes place after the Magi War, in a world of ashes and misery where magic has flown away.
A thousand years later, humanity has rebuilt the world thanks to machines and technology… Terra, a young girl endowed with strange powers, is then found. Held prisoner by the empire who wanted to exploit her powers and use her as a weapon, her path crossed that of a young man named Locke. Their harrowing escape from the clutches of the empire sets off a chain of events that will affect countless lives and lead to an inevitable conclusion.
Considered one of the favorite games in the FINAL FANTASY franchise, FINAL FANTASY VI features a cast of original playable characters with unique stories, goals, and destinies. Players will be able to customize team members’ skills, spells, and summons through the magicite system. They will also discover many improvements and new features in the game, including:
- 2D characters and backgrounds redesigned in pixel art featuring iconic FINAL FANTASY character designs by Kazuko Shibuya, the original artist and current collaborator;
- A beautiful original soundtrack rearranged in the style of the franchise under the supervision of original composer Nobuo Uematsu;
- Improved gameplay featuring a modernized user interface, combat automation options and more!
- Additional features like Bestiary, Art Gallery and Music Player.
People who pre-order FINAL FANTASY VI on Steam will receive launch purchase bonuses including four wallpapers, five music tracks and 20% off. The wallpapers, as well as the special Timelapse music, which marks the transition between the original versions and the new arrangements, can only be obtained by purchasing the game at launch or shortly after, or by purchasing the bundle on Steam . The music included are:
- The Decisive Battle (Timelapse Remix);
- Terra’s Theme (Timelapse Remix);
- Searching for Friends (Timelapse Remix);
- Locke’s Theme (Timelapse Remix);
- Aria di Mezzo Carattere (Instrumental).
To celebrate, the bundle including the Pixel Remaster of Final Fantasy I at VII is displayed at “only” €74.82 on Steam until the launch of the last chapter of the initiative. It’s still overpriced, but it might turn some people off. Other than that, Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin is available for pre-order from €66.89 on Amazon.co.uk.
