According to the ex-striker, this transfer can be both a good surprise and a bad one. The first advantage is obviously the fact that the purchase of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was free. But from a sporting point of view, all is not won. The departure of good elements such as the Chilean Alexis Sanchez is likely to hurt the club. Without forgetting that the enthusiasm around the Gabonese international is no longer as important as it was a few years ago. “If I remember correctly, the last moments when I really enjoyed myself was the time of Dortmund, it dates back to 2017”, admits Marc Libbra at the microphone of Europe 1.
In recent years in the jersey of FC Barcelona and then Chelsea, the 34-year-old player has struggled to regain his former performance. “I think he got a bit lost in some clubs, which are big clubs, but he didn’t perform very well over a full season. In Marseille, he has to be very good quickly, score goals and make a difference”.
Another problem: his physical condition. “Is he going to hold the road? Because there are important deadlines to qualify for the Champions League and I don’t know if he will be ready quickly”, wonders Marc Libbra before adding: “In any case I wish him because in Marseille he can still have fun”.
