FritzOS 7.50: Greater telephone convenience

With FritzOS 7.50, AVM has given the FritzFon a new appointment calendar and a caller announcement. With the latter, voice announcements can be stored in the address book for appointments and callers, which the phone plays instead of the ringtone. For example, you can hear who is calling before you pick up the phone. Also new: Unwanted callers can now be rejected or diverted to an answering machine if they are not in the phone book.

FritzOS 7.50: WireGuard VPN and WLAN mesh

AVM integrates the popular VPN method WireGuard under FritzOS 7.50. This should make it even easier to set up a secure connection from the Internet to the home network. There are also innovations when it comes to mesh: If you use a FritzBox as a mesh repeater, you can look forward to faster WiFi and greater stability – because now the connection between the FritzBox on the connection and the repeater FritzBox is both 2.4 and the 5 gigahertz frequency is available.

There are other innovations in the Smart Home area: Under FritzOS 7.50, users use additional templates for actions in conjunction with the WLAN guest network, the answering machine and the push mail service. The FritzBox now also supports window sensors with DECT, which detect an open window, for example. Anyone who has a USB hard drive attached to the FritzBox can now integrate it into the home network more quickly. From now on, not only storage media in the file formats FAT and NTFS can be called up from the network, but also in exFAT.
