Frozen French comparison test: is expensive really better? – Video

Frozen fries are one of the best inventions of mankind – you could at least believe that if you ask any kindergarten or primary school child what they think. But there are big differences between the products – a small comparison test shows what really pays off.

Fast food feeling for home

Very few of us have a deep fryer in the kitchen – and are therefore dependent on the pre-fried and frozen fries if you want to enjoy the delicious fast food at home (yes, in theory you can of course make fries yourself, and that can be really great with a fancy french fries recipe – but this is about the convenient frozen version). But too often, the frozen french fries do not taste as fresh and crispy as from the snack bar. Nothing is sadder than a plate full of soft, doughy potato sticks that turn into mealy porridge when you eat.

Is expensive really better?

Just a look at the price tag shows how different the quality of the products is: While you can buy a large bag of fries from the freezer for a few cents, a high-end product costs several euros. But is it worth investing in luxury fries? In this test, a mother and her son give it a try: they blindly try three different types of french fries (each from the cheapest, medium and most expensive price range). All three samples come straight from the oven to the table – and a clear favorite is quickly emerging.

Damn close to the fryer

One of the three types of french fries can actually almost keep up with the fries from the deep fryer in the test and completely inspires the testers. The video shows which type of frozen french fries it seems to be most worthwhile to access.
