  • Netflix already lists the Samsung Exynos 2200 as a compatible chipset in its support section.
  • The quick listing of the Galaxy S22 chip surprises.
  • It could be a reference to a Netflix-specific announcement at the Samsung Unpacked event.

In a few days, Samsung will unveil its new top smartphone, the Galaxy S22. Many rumors are already circulating online. But the South Korean manufacturer could still come up with one or the other surprise. At least that’s what an entry in Netflix’s support area suggests.

The streaming service lists compatible chipsets there with which it is possible to stream Netflix in HD on the cell phone. The Samsung Exynos 2200, which will probably power the Galaxy S22, is now also listed here.

Fast certification surprised

What is surprising about the listing is the timing. Usually, Netflix certifies devices and chipsets with a time delay to the market launch. The Samsung chip is now already certified before it is even used in a mobile phone. The latest Qualcomm chip Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, on the other hand, is missing from the list, as was its predecessor.

The quick listing could indicate an announcement on the Samsung Unpacked regarding Netflix. Samsung and Netflix have been cooperating with each other for a long time. It would be conceivable, for example, that Netflix would become part of Samsung Access and you could stream more cheaply. We’ll know more on February 9th!
