The development cost was around $85 million, and I think EA added $40 million for marketing and distribution. Sure, the development team was very talented, but trying to make a AAA single-player shooter in today’s market was a truly horrible idea, especially since it was a new intellectual property that was also trying to take advantage of the Unreal Engine 5. Ultimately, the game resulted in a bloated, repetitive, and far too long campaign.

Subsequently, a developer anonymously declared for IGN that Immortals of Aveum had everything to please players: no microtransactions and does not have a lifespan that is too long to complete the game. It also benefited from generally good reviews , but just didn’t sell. Bad timing or bad analysis of the video game market? The reasons for this failure can be multiple. What is a shame is the dismissal of many enthusiasts who worked hard to bring this game to life and the fact that EA Originals risks placing less trust in small studios to avoid such a fiasco.
