Gianni Infantino wants to “give hope to Africans” with a World Cup every two years

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has once again defended his plans for a World Cup every two years with a message to Africans.

For a few weeks now, it’s been his new battle. The Swiss, who heads the international football body, spoke on Wednesday during the Council of Europe in Strasbourg.

“We must find ways to include the whole world to give hope to Africans so that they do not need to cross the Mediterranean to find perhaps a better life but, more likely, death at sea , explained Gianni Infantino. We have to give opportunities, give dignity.”

The Fifa president also argued the importance of his plans for a World Cup every two years for development. “We see football developing in a direction where some have everything and most have nothing,” Infantino said. In Europe, the World Cup takes place twice a week because the best players in the world play there.

It should be noted that the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) has asked FIFA “not to take a decision without the agreement” of the European federations and the International Olympic Committee.
