God of War Ragnarok still hasn’t shown up this week, much to the chagrin of fans who have been waiting to see Kratos’ goatee again. We were however told that the game could have been talked about on June 30, but that did not happen. Tom Henderson, one of the insiders who had supported this theory, reveals to us that an announcement was well planned, but that it was postponed at the last moment. He also takes the opportunity to slip other information on the different editions of the game into a new article on Exputer.
An announcement postponed at the last moment
According to the insider, PlayStation had indeed planned to communicate on God of War Ragnarok during this June 30, in particular via a PlayStation Blog post.
He then simply had to contain the release date of the game, as well as the details of its different collectors’ editions. A communication strategy that is not so surprising for PlayStation, since the group had done the same for Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. It indicates that the page would be ready to be launched at any time, and that it would only take a green light to go live
Henderson also points out that the account PlayStation Game Sizerenowned for keeping an eye on PSN changes, had noticed that the game’s page had been updated on the PlayStation Store on June 29enough to suggest that an announcement was indeed planned.
Divine collectors?
To support his words a little more, the insider detailed what we could find in the different collectors’ editions. First of all, there would be two different editions, namely Collector’s Edition and Jotnar’s Edition.
The latter would then include the game as well as a 1:1 scale replica of Thor’s hammer, Mjolnir. The Collector’s Edition would also contain the hammer, but would add other goodies such as a world map or badges.
As for the date, Henderson is a little more reserved and cannot say 100%, however, he argues that the release would be well planned for the month of November, and that the date of November 11 is the one that is on everyone’s lips at the moment. But this is more speculation than anything.
We will patiently wait (no need to harass the members of the studio) until a formalization, even if it should arrive much later this summer.
