The theologian and church critic Hans Küng (1928-2021) “died peacefully in his house in Tübingen at the age of 93 on April 6th”, reports the Global Ethic Foundation. Küng was the founder and for many years President of the foundation, which was established in 1995. The Swiss was one of the most famous church critics.

One of his numerous works is “Does God Exist? The Answer to the Question of God in Modern Times”. After criticizing the Pope’s infallibility, Küng’s permission to teach was withdrawn in 1979. Over the decades, the theologian has received numerous awards for his work – including the Federal Cross of Merit with a star.

Basis for “peaceful and respectful cooperation”

According to the Global Ethic Foundation’s website, Küng created “the basis for an awareness of fundamental common values in all parts of society and for peaceful and respectful coexistence across the boundaries of religions, cultures and nations.” It is “an honor to be able to continue his life’s work”. They want to “preserve, carry on and develop this in their own right”.
