Health pass: controls in trains will be “reinforced” for the holidays, announces Jean-Baptiste Djebbari

The government announces the color. Like every Christmas holiday period, millions of trips will take place in the space of a few days in France. More than 4 million train tickets over the period have already been sold. This explains why the executive is being particularly cautious, in a context of the fifth epidemic wave. Guest of LCI this Sunday, December 19, Jean-Baptiste Djebbari recalled that a “protocol, one of the strictest in Europe” has been implemented in French long-distance transport. “Since August 9, the sanitary pass provides additional comfort for those who take the train”, also says the Minister for Transport.

“For long-distance trains and planes, you must present a health pass. About a third of trains are checked, or about 400,000 people every week”, indicates the former deputy. Controls that the government wants to strengthen for the weeks to come. These measures “will be a little reinforced for the holidays. We will go to 35, even 40% of controlled trains”, underlines Jean-Baptiste Djebbari. “Beyond the question of control, since August 9, 99% of people are in good standing when they present themselves to board the train”, adds the Minister. “It’s a device that works well and for which the SNCF is playing the game”, he concludes.

During his visit to LCI, the Minister also took stock of the application of the future vaccination pass in these same transportations. “In principle, transport which is now subject to the health pass will tomorrow be subject to the vaccination pass”, he said. Daily public transport should therefore not be affected for the time being.
