The Minister of Ecological Transition Christophe Béchu shared a map of the departments that will be on red alert “to anticipate the summer situation” concerning the drought. For several months, he has been talking about the consequences of global warming of 4° in France and the need to prepare for it in advance.

The departments at very probable risk of drought this summer
In these first days of June, the northern half of the country has summer temperatures, and the other half, 40 departments as well as Andorra, is on yellow alert for the risk of thunderstorms. The website Meteo France invites the inhabitants of these sectors to be attentive. On the drought side, some territories are already under restriction and must not waste drinking water.
For this summer, we know more thanks to a map that anticipates the risks to come, published on May 17 by Christophe Béchu on his Twitter account. Three levels of risk classify the French departments: very probable, probable and possible. There are 26 departments on red alertincluding those of Ile-de-France (except Paris), Marne, Loiret, Deux-Sèvres, Vienne, Haute Corse, Pyrénées-Orientales, Ain, Isère, Drôme, l ‘Ardèche, Hautes-Alpes, Alpes-Maritimes, Alpes de Haute Provence, Var, Bouches-du-Rhône, Vaucluse, Gard, Lozère, Hérault, Aude, Ariège, the Haute-Garonne or the Hautes-Pyrénées.

50 departments are in orange vigilance : Pyrénées-Atlantiques, Landes, Seine-Maritime, Eure, Orne, Eure-et-Loir, Vendée, Maine et Loire, Savoie and Haute-Savoie… And 24 departments are on yellow alert including those of Brittany, Loire-Atlantique, Bas-Rhin, Moselle, etc.
