/ Psycho / Love & Couple / Infidelity: here's why you're more likely to be cheated in September

At the start of the school year, the desire to frolic elsewhere would be stronger. The extramarital dating site Gleeden notices a spike in registrations on its platform every year in September.

Back to school is often synonymous with questioning yourself in order to get your life back in hand. For many, that would also rhyme with … infidelity. Each year, Gleeden, site of extramarital affairs, saw its number of registrants increase at high speed during this period. This back to school 2020 breaks all records: the site recorded a + 472% increase in activity on the site over the week from 08/31 to 09/06 compared to a classic week. The platform even recorded this Tuesday, September 1, one of its most important days in terms of registrations since its creation in 2009. But why now?

Blame it on vacations and confinement

It is no longer a secret, the confinement has severely tested the couples, by imposing a closeness on them at all times. A period that exacerbated the tensions already present. In a poll by Gleeden in April, 71% of respondents said they argued more frequently with their spouse during lockdown than usual. And it looks like summer vacation didn't help. Under the sun, disagreements erupt over money, organization or activities. We can also think that the particular context of this year 2020 and the improvised leave for many French people are playing on the morale of the couples.

Thus, 68% of the site's members in France and Belgium say they are eager to start working again, according to a recent survey *. And it's not colleagues or long meetings that motivate this return. For nearly three-quarters of respondents (74%), being able to move away from the family home is the main reason. 68% say that returning to work is synonymous with a "break" allowing them to have moments without their family.

And when the day's work is over? The temptation to look elsewhere is felt. 64% of the people questioned admitted having seen their lover / mistress again in the first week of school.

* Online survey conducted on Gleeden.com from August 31, 2020 to September 4, 2020 among 9,542 site members in France and Belgium
