Neuer comments on the comeback at Bayern

According to reports, Manuel Neuer will miss the start of training at FC Bayern, the goalkeeper is apparently not fit enough to return to team training. During the obligatory check-up at the hospital at the start of the season, the 37-year-old talks about the recovery process.
Manuel Neuer tried to dispel doubts about his level of performance at the beginning of the pre-season with Bayern Munich. “I’m doing great. My leg has gotten better, more time has passed,” said the captain of the record German soccer champion, who had been injured since December, to the newspapers “Münchner Merkur” and “tz”.
In a good mood, Neuer drove up to the Barmherzige Brüder hospital in Munich, where he and seven other professionals had to undergo the obligatory internal examination before the start of the actual preparation. A picture showed the 37-year-old entering the underground car park. The first team training session is planned for Saturday, after which the training camp at Tegernsee will take place (until July 20). If Neuer’s comeback is postponed, this could also affect Yann Sommer’s sporting future. Recently, there were many indications that the 34-year-old Swiss would be leaving, as he does not want to be satisfied with the role of reservist in Munich. The keeper needs a regular place in order to be able to win the duel with Borussia Dortmund’s Gregor Kobel in the goal of the Swiss with a view to the European Championship.
Neuer, on the other hand, has not played a game since breaking his lower leg in December, and the new tests should provide information about the goalkeeper’s fitness – and possibly set a time frame in which a return to the record champions’ team seems realistic. In addition to Neuer, Matthijs de Ligt, Serge Gnabry and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, among others, were expected for medical checks.
