Although Vanguard is more than halfway through its third season and Modern Warfare 2 is soon to be revealed, Treyarch added the Scythe melee weapon to Black Ops Cold War in a surprise update on June 6. Here’s how to unlock the weapon in Multiplayer and Zombies mode.

How to Unlock the Scythe in Black Ops Cold War
The Scythe was added to Black Ops Cold War on June 6, 2022, and players must complete melee challenges to unlock it.
Here’s how to unlock the Scythe in multiplayer and zombies:
- Multiplayer: Using a melee weapon, kill 2 enemies when the Ninja or Dead Silence options are activated in 15 different matches
- Zombies: Using a primary melee weapon, kill 200 enemies when Insta-Kill is enabled.
Challenges are easy to complete in Multiplayer and Zombies, but the Scythe has yet to appear in Warzone.
This new two-handed weapon is sure to mow down your opponents.
Completing 15 multiplayer matches will take some time, so it will probably be more efficient to complete the challenge in a game of Zombies.
The game description states that the scythe is a two-handed melee weapon that swings quickly and allows you to “reap a bountiful harvest by slaying all who stand in your way”.
