Humankind: the first Cultures of Africa DLC is coming

Humankind has been available for a few months now, and after fixing bugs and improving the balance a bit, the studio is now offering additional content to enhance the gameplay. There are no major new mechanics in this first DLC, which can be considered a good thing if you don’t feel like acquiring all the additional peoples. The approach is therefore different compared to Endless Legend, for example.

The “Cultures of Africa” DLC will be available on Steam, Epic Games Store and Microsoft Gamepass on January 20, priced at € 8.99. It can also be pre-ordered for a 10% discount. Here is the list of its content, which focuses on the peoples of the African continent, which tend to be overlooked in historical games.

New cultures

A new culture is introduced with each era, besides offering new options, it will prevent you from getting stung all the good cultures by other civilizations if you are lagging behind. Unfortunately, the precise bonuses for each culture have yet to be revealed, just their theme.

  • Era 1 – Bantu (Expansionist): To develop your lands quickly and early.
  • Era 2 – Garamantes (Agrarian): To grow food in arid lands.
  • Era 3 – Swahili (Merchant): To take advantage of many coasts.
  • Era 4 – Maasai (Agrarian): To optimize the growth rate.
  • Era 5 – Ethiopians (Militarist): To progress rapidly in scientific and military fields.
  • Era 6 – Nigerians (Agrarian): To increase oil fields and agricultural labor. It could also offer a spam bonus by email thanks to the Nigerian princes.

New Wonders

Likewise, there aren’t always wonders that interest you, or that are still available for construction. Here are 5 new ones, their bonuses are currently unknown:

  • Mount Kilimanjaro
  • Victoria Falls
  • The Rock of Zuma
  • Lake Natron
  • The Great Mosque of Djenné

Finally, 7 independent peoples and 15 storytelling events have been added, although that’s not the most exciting part, it helps to vary the games.

The studio’s social media posts regarding the lifespan of Dying Light 2 Stay Human have not always been well received. There are distinctions between the time required for 100%, for all side quests, and just the main campaign which is much shorter.

For Days Gone 2, Jeff Ross indicates that they were going to add a deeper story between Deacon and Sarah and that the world was going to be more vibrant and alive. He also said that the formula would be refined, like an Assassin’s Creed or a Mass Effect.
