Heating can quickly become expensive – especially if areas in the house or apartment are unnecessarily heated. Consumers also have to be prepared for price increases, which are due, among other things, to rising CO2 prices. You can find out in the text and in the video what you should always pay attention to when heating and how you can provide heat in all rooms more efficiently in the future.
When the temperatures outside drop noticeably, people like to turn the heaters on fully. However, it can quickly become expensive if one warms inefficiently. We have put together seven tips that you can use to save heating costs in the future.
Saving heating costs: you should pay attention to this
- Don’t heat the entire house: Despite the cold outside, not every single room in the house or apartment needs to be heated. You can save heating costs by only warming the rooms in which you are actually staying. For example, the hallway and bathroom do not have to be heated separately. In addition, it is enough if your bedroom has a temperature of 18 degrees – this is the best temperature for a sound sleep.
- Leave the radiator free: If there is a piece of furniture in front of your heater, such as a couch, it can drive up your costs. Because this means that the heat cannot be properly released into the room. Therefore, make sure that there is no furniture directly in front of the radiators.
- Vent the radiator: If the heating does not warm up properly when it is running at full speed, ventilation can solve the problem. In this article, we will explain to you how you can ventilate your heating system.
- Wear appropriate clothing: It is easy to save on heating costs by dressing appropriately for the time of year. You shouldn’t be cold in your own home. However, if you wear a short T-shirt and short trousers and have the heating turned on fully, you could just as easily wear a sweater and long trousers and turn the heating down. However, it is important that your feet stay warm. We explain here the advantages of wearing socks in bed.
- Burst ventilation: Instead of having the windows tilted all day, you’d better ventilate the room several times a day. When the windows are open, the air can circulate throughout the apartment, ensuring better air throughout the house. Before ventilating, you should turn the heating down and only turn it up again after ventilating so that the heat is not lost.
- Seal windows and doors: As a rule, windows and doors should be tight and not give off heat to the outside. Nevertheless, you should check doors and windows for leaks and seal them if necessary. We’ll show you how to do this in this article. Doors to unheated rooms should be closed so that the rooms, which were supposed to stay warm, do not cool down.
- Eat hot food: In fact, warming up with the right food can help. For example, spicy foods are particularly good at raising your body temperature. Even if you cook regularly in the kitchen, heating costs can be saved. This heats up the kitchen and the heating can remain off.
