“I was drunk”, Gérard Depardieu returns to his participation in the meeting of Nicolas Sarkozy in Villepinte

Gérard Depardieu returned in his own way to his participation in the big meeting of Nicolas Sarkozy, in Villepinte during the 2012 presidential election.

He was “stuffed”. Gérard Depardieu made a funny secret Tuesday evening on the set of “Daily”. He first indicated that he would not follow the presidential election, the outcome of which will take place in less than two months. “Did you see the mess?” he asked the TMC team.

Did he follow the previous campaigns?, asks Yann Barthès. “One day I was drunk I went to Villepinte, I took the scooter, but when I see that again…”, answers the legend of French cinema. “I don’t regret anything because when you’re drunk you don’t know anymore. It’s great cooked, ”he continued in front of a hilarious audience.

It does not specify the date. But we remember that Gérard Depardieu made a remarked intervention in March 2012 during the big meeting of Villepinte of Nicolas Sarkozy, outgoing president and candidate for his re-election. On stage, in front of 80,000 people, the actor had greeted his “friends or new friends” and declared: “Since this new friend, Nicolas Sarkozy, with Carla Bruni, has been in power, I have only heard evil of this man who does only good”. “I’m here to tell you and thank you for being here.”

Five years later, in a France 3 broadcast, he returned to this improvised moment according to him and gave another version, still related to the drink. “It was not planned at all. I went to this meeting, saying to myself “well, I’m going to have a drink”. (…) And I climbed quietly”.

In this same program, “Funny place for a meeting”, he confided having voted “once for Mitterrand and once for Sarkozy”. “Mitterrand because, it’s true, it was an extraordinary time because there were free radios and there was all that. And then I liked the man because, even before I knew him, he went to the theater very often and he liked my repartee. And I voted Sarkozy because I was tired of hearing things… As much as I didn’t like Nicolas Sarkozy at the start, I thought he was becoming more human.
