Flitzer alarm in Dortmund becomes a problem

Borussia Dortmund has a problem. A new trend among fans is scurrying around the field week after week while other spectators besiege the coaching benches to dust off a shirt. At the Bundesliga club one is increasingly annoyed by the overbearing spectators.

Marco Rose personally led the latest runabout at Borussia Dortmund from the field. The coach sees a worrying trend in the fans who run onto the lawn in their euphoria. “It shouldn’t explode exponentially that three or four people run onto the pitch every game,” said Rose after the 2-0 (0-0) in the DFB Cup against FC Ingolstadt.

In this context, the trainer campaigned for understanding for the stewards, “who are just trying to do their job. One steward fell,” said Rose. His suggestion: “I think we should try to find a solution. If we have that every weekend now, we have a lot to do.” He jokingly added, “If that makes 80,000, it’ll be tight.”

The steward was unharmed on Tuesday evening. According to organization director Christian Hockenjos, any measures to deal with the problem should be “discussed internally”.

After the league win against FSV Mainz 05, a fan ran across the field, danced unhindered through the penalty area with Erling Haaland, was celebrated from the south stand and was given Haaland’s jersey. A folder finally took it from him, Haaland promised a replacement via Twitter: “Is my jersey from the first half okay?”

So the fan was rewarded for his action at the end, for which Rose also shows a certain understanding. “They try to get hold of a jersey this way. But basically everyone knows that we should try to prevent that.” This time he participated personally.

There is increasing anger in Dortmund about the fan-begging for the stars’ jerseys. On Tuesday, many cardboard signs could be seen above the coaching benches of the Dortmund stadium. On which fans asked their stars for the used jerseys. The audience without a cardboard sign reacted annoyed.
