In Denmark, the planned terrorist attack foiled in December has “links to Hamas”

Danish prosecutor Anders Larsson confirmed during a hearing before the appeal court in Copenhagen that the case uncovered in December concerning a planned terrorist attack “has ties to Hamas”, declared the police in an email sent to Agence France-Presse, Friday January 12. No further details were released as the proceedings took place behind closed doors.

Denmark announced on December 14 the arrest of three people as part of an investigation into a planned attack. Seven people in total are now suspected of being involved in this project.

Israel said the suspects were acting “in the name of Hamas”

Following the announcement of this police operation, in cooperation with the Danish intelligence services (PET), Israel declared that the suspects arrested in Denmark were acting “in the name of Hamas”. An accusation which was not then confirmed by the Danish authorities.

“The terrorist threat facing Denmark is unfortunately serious, but fortunately we have (…) of a competent and vigilant police and intelligence services who do everything in their power, every day, to ensure our security”reacted the Minister of Justice, Peter Hummelgaard, quoted by the Ritzau agency.
