It is indisputable that Carinthia’s mayors earn less than their counterparts in other federal states. In the small communities with between 1,000 and 5,000 inhabitants, it is an average of ten percent less. An example: In a municipality with 3001 to 3500 inhabitants (e.g. Krumpendorf, Magdalensberg, Frauenstein, etc.), the national average gross salary is EUR 4895.50, in Carinthia EUR 4311.80.
