This Saturday, May 7, Emmanuel Macron was officially invested for a second five-year term as President of the Republic. For the occasion, his wife, Brigitte, and his mother, François, matched their outfits.
This Saturday, May 7 was a very special day for Emmanuel Macron. An essential step for any elected or re-elected president, the investiture ceremony took place from 11 a.m. at the Elysée Palace. Organized in the village hall of the presidential residence, this day marked the beginning of the new five-year term of the President of the Republic, in the presence of the main representatives of State institutions. Unlike 2017 when he succeeded François Hollande, there was logically no transfer of power on the steps of the Elysée.
So the ceremony was shorter than usual, lasting about an hour. After the official proclamation of the results of the second round of the election by Laurent Fabius, President of the Constitutional Council, Emmanuel Macron has been recognized as Grand Master of the National Order of the Legion of Honor. The president then signed the traditional minutes before receiving the honors of the soldiers of the Republican Guard and saluting the flag.

Once this has passed, the Marseillaise sounded and the 21 cannon shots to formalize the investiture were fired from the Invalides. This ceremony with great pomp was followed by Emmanuel Macron’s traditional speech to the two former Presidents of the Republic, Nicolas Sarkozy and François Hollande, in order to show “continuity for national unity and unity”.
But two people were also present during all these crucial stages for the smooth running of the day: Brigitte Macron, the president’s wife, and Françoise, her mother. And for the occasion, the two women in the life of Emmanuel Macron have decided to wear matching outfits, in a magnificent immaculate white. A beautiful image to start this second term eagerly awaited by the French.
