“It was a nightmare”: why Vitaa suffered badly from the over-media coverage of her collaboration with Slimane: Femme Actuelle Le MAG

During an interview with Éric Dussart on his show We’re doing TV again on RTL, this Saturday October 7, 2023, the columnist was able to question the singer Vitaa about her collaboration with Slimane and the over-media coverage of their duo. Vitaa became known as the female revelation of the year 2007 in French song thanks to her famous title On the flower of you. This song with melancholy lyrics won over many fans that year, propelling it to the forefront. She then continued her career successfully, with a string of hits and collaborations, including the memorable duet Night confessions with her close friend, former rapper Diam’s. More recently, she has enjoyed dazzling success with Slimane, with whom she released the duet album titled Versus in August 2019, forming a remarkable artistic tandem. A little too much even.

Vitaa and Slimane: 54 TVs in four to five months

“A while ago, I remember, we saw you almost every two days or even every day and a half with Slimane on television”remembers Éric Dussart on the radio RTL Saturday October 7, 2023. To which the artist responds: “it was a nightmare, even us, we couldn’t stand seeing ourselves on TV”. And for good reason, in four to five months, the duo has done nearly 54 TV shows. “At one point, we said to ourselves with Slimane: ‘Aren’t we going to bore people? Aren’t we tired of hearing us?'”remembered the young mother. “Was there that risk?”then asks Éric Dussart. “There was this risk, of a kind of over-publicization of this album ; which also meant that we sold a million copiesshe remarks retrospectively on the airwaves of our colleagues. The TVs are asking us, they want us to come and sing. We feel like people are super happy to see us sing.” Despite the notoriety that she sometimes has difficulty understanding, Vitaa would not change anything in her career: “There’s always that risk as an artist. I think being in the spotlight all the time is dangerous.”
