During an interview with Belgian journalist David Barbet (Télépro / RTBF), Claire Chazal notably mentioned her departure from TF1, which she had experienced very badly at the time.
Former iconic face of TV news from TF1 the weekend, Claire Chazal now works as a journalist on France Télévisions. A kind of homecoming for the one who started on television on Antenna 2, now renamed France 2, at the end of the 80s. As a reminder, Claire Chazal began her career as a journalist on the radio, by carrying out freelance work on behalf ofEurope 1 in the early 1980s. She also worked for various newspapers, before joining Antenna 2. It is within Telematin that the host presented her first TV news. Spotted by TF1, she was recruited to present the weekend news at 1 p.m. and 8 p.m. on the first channel in 1991.
A position that she will occupy until 2015. That year, Claire Chazal was thanked for her 24 years of good and loyal service within TF1, before being replaced by Anne-Claire Coudray. During her career with Channel 1, the journalist held various positions in addition to presenting the weekend TV news. She was notably appointed editor-in-chief of information of TF1 in 1997, then deputy director of news writing for TF1, in charge of reports, in 2006. Since then, Claire Chazal has returned to France Télévisions, where it presents in particular the program Passage des Arts, Sunday in the 2nd part of the evening on France 2.

Relatively discreet in the media, the journalist nevertheless granted an interview to the Belgian journalist David Barbet (Telepro / RTBF) Monday January 10, 2022. During this interview, Claire Chazal notably returned to her departure from TF1, while explaining why she had experienced it very badly at the time. “TF1 was my family, I was very free and happy. When you have to stop, it’s a shock. I wouldn’t have stopped by myself. The audience was correct, we were in front of France 2. The weekend which followed my departure, France 2 was in front of TF1, that made me smile. I was arrested for personal reasons, it was feuds from a personal point of view“, underlined the host.
