After having tested positive for Covid-19 on March 14, the Minister of Labor Elisabeth Borne spent several days in the hospital. This Friday, she returns to this “agonizing” experience of a “terrible” disease in an interview with Parisian.

The minister, who says she is “better” even if she “will need some time to recover an Olympic form”. “I had the South African variant, which is not very present in France. I don’t understand where I caught it because I am very careful on a daily basis. I put on gel and wear the mask at all times and always favor videoconferences, ”she explains.

“Admirable” caregivers

While in hospital, “it was scary. You have the impression that your whole body is going haywire ”, confides the Minister, saying that she had“ the impression of accumulating several illnesses ”and having seen“ occasional administration of oxygen ”. Today, “I feel weakened. My breathing capacity has yet to fully recover. However, I am a sporty person and I lead a healthy life, ”she emphasizes. “Perhaps some have the impression that they have been repeating the same messages for a year, but everyone must be aware that this disease is terrible.”

Saluting the caregivers “admirable for their attention and humanity”, who have been “on the bridge for a year”, Elisabeth Borne believes that “if we do not spontaneously want to respect barrier gestures, we must at least do it. for them ”because“ they are tired ”.

The Minister of Culture Roselyne Bachelot, also positive for Covid-19 and hospitalized since Wednesday, announced on Twitter on Thursday that she was under treatment of “reinforced oxygen therapy”. “I am thinking of her and of all the French people who are currently fighting against the virus”, says Elisabeth Borne, who herself counts “resumes (re) at a reasonable pace” her activities at the Ministry of Labor.
