What did James Franco know about an allegedly violent argument between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard? That is what Depp’s lawyers want to clarify.

Will James Franco be drawn into the legal battle between Johnny Depp, 58, and Amber Heard, 35? According to “Page Six”, the 43-year-old could allegedly have to explain how close his relationship with Heard actually was. Depp’s lawyers also want to ask the actor whether he has seen alleged injuries at Heard, reports the celebrity site of the New York Post.

Does James Franco have to testify in the Johnny Depp-Amber Heard trial?

Franco is reportedly due to give his testimony early next year. Depp has filed a $ 50 million defamation lawsuit against his ex-wife. The actor is suing Heard in Virginia over a 2018 article in the Washington Post. In it, she speaks about domestic violence. She hadn’t mentioned her ex-husband by name. Depp has always denied any allegations.

What did Franco know?

Depp’s lawyers are said to have summoned Franco because a surveillance video from May 2016 shows the actor with Heard in front of an elevator. The day before, there should have been an argument between Heard and Depp. Johnny Depp’s legal team now allegedly want to question Franco as “witnesses” to find out whether he and Heard spoke about the dispute or whether Franco saw alleged injuries on Heard’s face.

Heard’s legal team allege Franco was living in the building at the time of the incident and the two happened to be taking the elevator together. According to the report, Depp’s lawyers consider this to be “a lie”.

Trial in spring?

Among other things, Depp and his lawyers accuse Heard of digitally editing photos that they show with two blue eyes. With the libel suit, which will probably be heard in court in the USA next spring, the actor is demanding $ 50 million in compensation. He lost a similar lawsuit against the British tabloid “The Sun”, which Depp had described in an article as a “wife’s thug”, in 2020. However, the US case is now directed directly against Heard.

Depp married Heard in 2015. The couple separated in 2016 and divorced in early 2017. Since then, a war of the roses has raged, in which both parties accused each other of domestic violence, among other things.
