Jan Ullrich suffered a lot of setbacks and was only in a clinic in Mexico at the beginning of December. Now he’s finally happy again! The reason: the rediscovered love for his partner Elizabeth Napoles.

It was shocking news for Jan Ullrich’s fans: the former professional cyclist was admitted to a hospital in Mexico just before Christmas. Another drug crash? Ullrich gives the all-clear to “Bild”, but reveals that his life was once again in danger.

But he finally has good news in his luggage: Because Ullrich is no longer single. He and his ex Elizabeth Napoles, 38, are said to have spoken out.

Jan Ullrich and his Elizabeth are a couple again

Only at the end of November did the relationship between the former professional athlete and the Cuban break up. Now Jan Ullrich is happy to have his lady of the heart by his side again. “We have spoken out, the love button has not gone out. We are starting a new attempt,” he explains to “Bild”.

Currently both are still spatially separated, but reunited in the heart. Elizabeth is currently still in Havana. In January, the two should be able to hug each other again in South Africa. According to “Bild”, Jan Ullrich wants to take part in the “Cape Epic”, an annual mountain bike stage race in South Africa, in March 2022.

Jan Ullrich: “I escaped death again!”

It’s good news that will probably reassure some fans. Because the last few years have not been easy for Jan Ullrich. The 1997 Tour de France winner made repeated headlines for his heavy use of alcohol and drugs. Then a new hit for the former professional cyclist: at the beginning of December he celebrated his birthday with friends in Cuba. Apparently health problems arise during the return journey. Ullrich is to be treated in a hospital in Mexico. The alarm bells go off immediately among his followers around the world.

In an interview with “Bild”, Jan Ullrich clears up the rumors. “I had a thrombosis and very severe blood poisoning.” It was obviously serious: “I escaped death again!”, He sums up a few weeks after the serious diagnosis.

He took the wind out of the sails of the rumors of an alleged relapse into addiction: “To dispel all speculation: I did a drug test at the beginning of the treatment – and it was of course negative!”

Lance Armstrong is again Ullrich’s support in need

Once again at his side was his former cycling colleague Lance Armstrong, 50, who was his rock solid as early as 2018: “He was the first to see me in Mexico and helped me a lot. I thank him very much, as well as the rest my team. ” His ex-rival on the track has become a loyal friend and even gave him a black ring with stones on the inside. A valuable talisman that should not only bring Ullrich luck until the end of his treatment at the beginning of January 2022, but also far beyond that.
