The 26-year-old singer Jendrik Sigwart competes for Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest 2021. He was able to convince two juries.

Although the German entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 (ESC) in Rotterdam has been fixed since last December, it has finally been revealed who it is. The NDR has announced that Jendrik Sigwart (26) will compete. In a multi-stage selection process, the Hamburg native won over two independent juries, according to a press release.

Sigwart was originally a musical performer and has been writing his own songs with passion for years. Which song he should perform is not yet revealed. But it is his first self-produced title. The song will be announced on February 25th.

Alexandra Wolfslast, Head of Delegation, explains in the announcement: "Jendrik is authentic through and through, has a great charisma and incredible entertainment qualities. He rightly convinced the ESC juries. We are very happy that he is competing for Germany . "

The Eurovision Song Contest should definitely take place

The ESC will definitely take place this year, as the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), together with the venue and the Dutch broadcasters and companies NPO, NOS and Avrotros recently confirmed. In 2020 the event at which Ben Dolic (23, "Violent Thing") should have competed for Germany had to be canceled.

The participating singers and bands will perform live in Rotterdam, insofar as the corona pandemic permits. Artists who cannot arrive should record a live performance beforehand, which can be played in the shows from the tape. There will be a reduced number of spectators or no audience at all. In an emergency, all artists have to record their performances and no participant will sing live in Rotterdam. The final of the ESC 2021 is to take place on May 22, 2021, the two semi-finals on May 18 and 20.
