You don’t need to explain to anyone what the “Matrix” series has in common with the “John Wick” films: Leading actor Keanu Reeves. In the new action blockbuster “Matrix Resurrections” he walks around with the same hairstyle and the same beard as John Wick and provokes so that viewers are consistently reminded of his second star role in the action genre.
But that’s not all: A “John Wick” star is also hiding in the fourth “Matrix” film and his appearance is a very special insider gag. What is meant is the character Chad, with whom Trinity is married in the Matrix and has children together. Even if you don’t necessarily recognize him visually, his first name is a good indication of who it might be.
Matrix 4: Cha is a neo-replacement in several ways
Chad’s actor is none other than Chad Stahelski. The successful master of multiple martial arts has a special past with Keanu Reeves. After all, he was the director of all previous “John Wick” films. He also directed the upcoming fourth part, which will be shown in German cinemas in March 2023.
His cast as Trinity’s husband (and thus as a competitor to Neo alias Keanu Reeves) is a special insider, because Chad Stahelski was already active as a stunt double before his career as a director – including the first three “Matrix” films in which he did the stunts for Keanu Reeves. So he’s always been the substitute for Reeves in the “Matrix” universe. But now again in a completely new way.
“Matrix Resurrections” started in German cinemas on December 23, 2021 and takes the popular sci-fi action series into new spheres.
