Diplomatic mission. Author Tom Bower recently released a new book about the complex dynamic that exists between some members of the royal family, including brothers Harry and William and their respective wives, Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton. The title of the book itself is already very telling since it is titled Revenge: “Meghan, Harry and the War between the Windsors” or simply translated: “Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the War between the Windsors”. In this book, the investigative journalist who has notably published unauthorized biographies on Richard Branson or Tony Blair points out that the rift between Prince William and Prince Harry runs much deeper than the brothers let on.
According to Tom Bower, an attempt was made by Prince Harry to improve the situation a little, if not between the two brothers, at least between their wives. The author argues that as Prince Harry and Meghan prepared to go on an official tour of Australia and New Zealand, the Duke of Sussex allegedly asked his brother to encourage Kate Middleton to be “more friendly with his wife“. And to add: “Members of the royal family, Harry said, did not show him enough support, respect and friendship. According to Harry, Meghan should be as appreciated as their mother”. In his book, Tom Bower indeed says that Prince Harry would like his wife to be considered with the same respect and affection as Lady Diana, his mother.
Kate reportedly sent flowers to Meghan to apologize
Despite this claim, the book states that “William’s response was not sympathetic. Beyond the walls of the palace, few people were aware of the rift between the brothers”. Relations within the Windsors have however notoriously deteriorated in recent years., especially after the broadcast of the interview of Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle with Oprah Winfrey. During this famous interview, Meghan returned to a particularly tense episode with her sister-in-law during which Kate would have made her cry, although the latter had claimed that the opposite situation had happened. The American actress has since said thatshe had forgiven Kate who had sent her a bouquet of flowers to make up for it. As for the true version of this incident, it will probably never be known…
