The shock was violent and the results are dramatic. Tuesday January 4, shortly after 2:30 p.m., a driver lost control of her car in a bend, on the D 933, in Lubbon, a town located to the east of the Landes department. The vehicle jumped over a ditch and tore off a fence, before ending its race in a pine tree in a private garden.
Firefighters arrived a few minutes after the accident. They failed to revive the mother behind the wheel. Aged 42, she lived in Passage-d’Agen, municipality of Lot-et-Garonne. At around 3 p.m., the vital prognosis of one of her two daughters was engaged. The 4-year-old girl was in cardiopulmonary arrest when help arrived. A Civil Security helicopter was dispatched to the site to evacuate it. She succumbed to her injuries before her transfer to Bordeaux University Hospital.
On the return from Portugal
The third occupant of the car, the 12-year-old girl, suffered from trauma to the head and thorax. She was taken care of by the emergency services and transferred to the Bordeaux University Hospital. His vital prognosis was not engaged. The police were able to speak with her before her evacuation and glean the first elements useful for the investigation.
The family was returning from a stay in Portugal. She had left early to make it to a birthday party scheduled for the evening on time. According to the teenager, the mother would have expressed her fatigue as the journey of nearly 1,000 kilometers drew to a close. Investigators do not rule out a drop in vigilance or dozing off. The findings also point to excessive speed.
The woman had been widowed since 2018 and had few ties in Lot-et-Garonne. Most of his family lives in Portugal.
A Civil Security helicopter was dispatched to the site.

Firefighters and gendarmes remained on site until the end of the afternoon. Orange services were also called upon to relieve a telephone line carried by the vehicle.
This is the first fatal accident on Landes roads in this year 2022.
