Lightsabers could soon return to Fortnite

A new Fortnite leak hints that Epic Games is planning to bring lightsabers back to the Battle Royale as part of a new crossover with the Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi series.

If Fortnite is still a successful game, it is in particular thanks to its great collaborations with other popular franchises.

From Walking Dead to Marvel via Halo or Gears of War, Epic Games has always brought a ton of content from different universes.

And Star Wars is also one of those universes that have integrated into the Battle Royale. The Mandalorian was notably the headliner of the Season 5 battle pass, and Boba Fett is currently an unlockable skin.

Many Star Wars skins are already available on Fortnite.

But recently, a new leak suggests that Epic Games may be bringing lightsabers back as part of a collaboration with the Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi series.

According to the leaker “FNAssist“, Epic Games has reintroduced the Star Wars lightsabers files in the v19.10 update. So that means they might be planning to bring them back into the game in the near future.

Lightsabers are some of the most iconic weapons in movie history, and they were available as Mythic melee weapons during Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2.

Following the addition of these files in Fortnite, players speculate that this weapon could be part of a possible collaboration with the upcoming Disney+ series Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi.

This crossover could also make the character appear as a new skin.

This leak also states that the 19.10 update added lightsaber animations as well as some melee combat mechanics, gameplay abilities, and visual effects. So that seems to confirm that the weapon will indeed make its way back into the game at some point.

However, it’s worth keeping in mind that this is just a leak, so take it with a grain of salt until Epic Games officially announces something.
