Lockheed Martin: successful long-range rocket test

(CercleFinance.com) – Lockheed Martin announced on Friday evening that it had successfully demonstrated its GMLRS, a next-generation extended-range guided multiple launch rocket system, during a test in New Mexico, firing the shell from the US Army’s HIMARS® launcher.

“This test nearly doubled the range of the shell, while maintaining the accuracy the GMLRS is known for,” said Jay Price, vice president of precision fire at Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control.

“Lockheed Martin is committed to advancing this critical capability in a timely manner for our military customer, and this test brings the ER GMLRS closer to fielding,” the manager continued.

The ER GMLRS met the pass criteria in the first 150 kilometer test for flight path, extended range, and launch-to-impact accuracy. The product also successfully integrated with HIMARS and achieved global missile performance.
