Waffles without flour are so healthy

This recipe for flourless waffles only requires three ingredients: bananas, oatmeal and plant milk. Ripe bananas add a pleasant sweetness to the waffle batter, which is why you don’t need any additional sugar for the recipe. The yellow fruits are also full of vitamins and minerals, are low in fat and high in fiber.

By the way, just like oat flakes: In addition to the fiber they contain, they provide complex carbohydrates that keep the blood sugar level constant and keep you full for a long time. Thanks to their hearty taste, oat flakes are a great substitute for the flour otherwise used in classic waffle recipes.

Recipe: 3-ingredient flourless waffles

The ingredients for ten waffles:

  • three ripe bananas
  • 120 g tender oat flakes
  • 240 ml plant drink, milk or water

The preparation:

  1. Mash the ripe bananas with a fork and stir them together with the oat flakes and the plant drink. Then mix with a hand blender to form a homogeneous dough. If you don’t have a blender at home, simply skip this step.
  2. Set the 3-ingredient waffle batter aside for around five minutes so that it can set. In the meantime, preheat the waffle iron well.
  3. Now pour 2 tablespoons of waffle batter into the hot iron one after the other and bake until golden brown in around three minutes.

Tip: If you like, you can coat the waffles with powdered sugar, maple syrup, nut butter or jam from the stock before eating. A third of the oat flakes used can also be replaced with ground nuts – this ensures a more robust aroma.
