Part 3 of “Lupin” arrives this Thursday, October 5 on Netflix. The opportunity for subscribers to find the hero portrayed by Omar Sy in new adventures that are still just as eventful. Our opinion.
After more than two years of waiting, Lupine makes its big return to Netflix this Thursday, October 5, for part 3 which promises to be as frenetic as ever. Now on the run, the character played by Omar Sy is one of the most wanted men in France.
He who had always lived the life of an anonymous outlaw now sees his face plastered all over France since the events of part 2. He therefore has no other choice but to live in hiding far from Claire ( Ludivine Sagnier) and Raoul (Etan Simon).
But faced with the suffering they endure because of him, Assane Diop can no longer stand it and decides to return to Paris to make them a crazy proposition: leave the country to start a life again elsewhere, far from clandestinity.
Chase away the natural, it comes back at a gallop… Very quickly, Lupine is overtaken by his old demons. There is ONE item he never managed to steal: the Black Pearl, a priceless jewel taken during the Franco-Tahitian War. He wants to use the money from the flight to allow his family to leave France.
Unfortunately, if Lupin’s plan seems to be well-oiled, a ghost from his past will resurface and disrupt his plans. Once again, Lupine will try everything to protect his family, but at what cost?
A fast-paced season 3
Once again headed by George Kay, this third season of Lupine is as exciting and entertaining as ever, thanks to its frantic pace which takes us to the four corners of Paris.
If the City of Lights is, as is often the case with Netflix, a beautiful postcard setting, the directors, Ludovic Bernard, Daniel Grou and Xavier Gens, still plunge us into the underbelly of the capital, and do not hesitate to show us the suburbs in which Assane Diop grew up.
Fans of Omar Sy will also be delighted to find the mischief, the sense of comedy and the charisma of the actor who played a big role in the success of Lupine. As in the first two seasons, we continue to enjoy following this colorful character whose schemes, ever more inventive and surprising, keep us in suspense.
With the help of flashbacks skillfully distilled throughout the episodes, we also discover a new facet of Assane Diop’s past, which allows us to better understand the character and understand his flaws.
This new burst of episodes also gives pride of place to secondary characters. Claire and Raoul, Lupin’s ex-wife and son, gain depth in this season 3 and prove that they are not just useful accessories to the story.
The teenager played by Etan Simon, who has also grown up a lot since the launch of the series in January 2021, embarks on an investigation and manages to foil one of the plans cleverly orchestrated by his father… A sign that the next Lupine is perhaps already being born, and that a future generation of gentleman burglars will see the light of day?
On the plot side, if we still take great pleasure in following Lupin’s rhythmic adventures, this season 3 is sorely lacking in issues. It must be said that we are starting to get a little tired of the hero’s incredible situations, which we saw again and again in the first two seasons.
Improbable costumes, extravagant situations and heists with foolproof scenarios: is weariness starting to rear its ugly head? One thing is certain, this part 3 of Lupine remains pleasant to watch and should please fans of the gentleman burglar.
