It’s just January and the rumors about the Apple Glass are already rolling. In his latest report, the analyst Ming-Chi Kuo describes the possible battery capacity and the charger for the AR / VR glasses. In addition, Apple applied for a patent on Tuesday, which should be of particular interest to people who wear glasses.

The year only started a few days ago and yet rumors about the new devices from Cupertino are rolling over again. As we already reported, the AR / VR headset from Apple could have two OLED lenses to offer you the most immersive experience possible. However, that would also mean that enormous processor and graphics performance are required. Ming-Chi Kuo now speaks in his latest report that the headset should be delivered with a 96-watt charger – the same one that is already used on the 14-inch MacBook Pro.
Such a powerful charger could indicate that Apple’s headset will have a fairly large battery, which of course could have a negative effect on the weight. However, the battery must not be too small, because the performance that the headset promises requires a lot of power. Overall, the leaks so far strongly suggest that the AR / VR headset is not made to stay on your nose all day.
Current offers for the iPhone 13 in the network
It remains to be seen whether the headset will be presented this year – we could receive more information at the latest at WWDC. Kuo also expects Apple will try to add a second, lighter version to the headset in 2024.
Diopter adjustment planned with special lenses?
Another rumor is causing a stir on the internet. I wear glasses myself and know the problem with devices that you have to put on your nose. Often there is not enough space to comfortably put the glasses under VR headsets. Apple will certainly want to avoid such a problem and a new patent suggests how the company could make this happen.
Because loud AppleInsider Apple filed a patent on Tuesday for a “tunable and focusable lens system”. Means that the company wants to try to equip Apple Glass with glasses that compensate for your poor eyesight. For this purpose, a system is to be used that stacks several lenses on top of one another, which are then electronically adapted to the respective dioptric strength of the user.

With variable phase lenses used in smartphone cameras, Apple also wants to accommodate people with severe visual problems. With these lenses it would be possible to significantly improve the view of the user inside by artificially generating image means. An eye-tracking feature, which is also speculated, would also make it possible to take a closer look at objects that are further away by adjusting the lens accordingly.
As always, the information should be viewed with caution. Because Apple is constantly registering new patents and thus securing ideas for technologies that are not yet being worked on. So it remains to be seen whether the Apple Glasses will really offer such comfort features for glasses wearers that we can also enjoy AR glasses and not wander blindly like moles through the world.
