Mai Thi Nguyen-Kim will be the new face of ZDF. The journalist can be seen in "Terra X" and on ZDFneo.

The ZDF has signed the science journalist Mai Thi Nguyen-Kim (33) exclusively for itself. As the broadcaster announced, Nguyen-Kim will be available for numerous formats from April 2021. The chemist with a doctorate, best known through her YouTube channel "maiLab", will then be featured in the documentary series "Terra X" on ZDF and in another show on ZDFneo. In addition, she should once again enrich the online team "Terra X Lesch & Co", in which she presented experiments in 2017 and 2018.

"It's an incredibly exciting time for me. I am very happy that I can implement my vision for modern science journalism at ZDF and that I can develop my own show," Nguyen-Kim is quoted as saying. The corona pandemic not only shows how indispensable science communication and education are, but also that science journalism has to be rethought.

Public TV should not allow its audience to be stolen "by self-proclaimed experts and conspiracy narrators on the Internet". "I've rolled up my sleeves, I'm in work mode and I'm looking forward to the trip," said the Heppenheim native.
