Beauty editor reveals
Make-up trends that we will no longer wear in 2021
Which make-up trends do we love now and which ones can we safely forget? Our beauty editor Friederike will tell you.
Heavy concealer
While not that long ago we covered our shadows under the eyes with light, opaque concealer, we are now shifting down a gear. Instead of applying the product like a triangle under the eye, we place minimal product directly in the inner corner. It is best not to be too close to the lash line, otherwise the concealer will quickly slip into the creases. Place the product precisely on the discoloration under the eye. So that the eye appears optically lifted, we also use the applicator to apply a little concealer from the outer corner of the eye up towards the temples. Blend well and it looks perfect. I personally love this look!
Powder overload
The days of baking are over anyway. Nevertheless, we are using as little powder as possible this year. Because: Above all, our skin should look like skin. Hybrids of care and foundation give it a natural finish, we only wear powder where it is necessary: mostly under the eyes and in the T-zone. The rest of our skin can shine naturally and look totally fresh. This works best with cream products. But if you don’t like them at all, you can simply use powder formulations with a slight shimmer. The main thing is that you don’t end up glistening like a disco ball.
Cut crease
Since Corona, eyeshadow has got more space in our beauty routine anyway. However, we no longer apply make-up to the Cut Crease. Natural, faded looks and eyeliner made from eye shadow are THE thing in 2021. The look works best with brown, neutral eyeshadow. If you still want glitter or shimmer, blend the transitions as naturally as possible. Tip: Brown mascara makes the natural make-up even more beautiful.
Rouge cheeks
Rouge is the step in our routine that makes us look fresher. And we all know: you put blush on your apple cheeks. But not in 2021. We now place the blush further back and directly above the bronzer. Incidentally, this works particularly well with cream products. With a sponge you can then blend them both perfectly into one another. So it doesn’t look so easily covered with make-up or “overblushed”.
