Married couple in front of nowhere – wave of willingness to help after house fire

As reported, dramatic scenes took place on Wednesday morning in the community of Weißensee: A fire broke out on the ground floor of a single-family house. The residents were woken up thanks to the smoke alarm and were able to save themselves from the flames in time. Unfortunately, any help for their pets came too late. Now those affected are experiencing a wave of helpfulness.

At around 4:20 a.m., the smoke alarm suddenly sounded and woke the 54-year-old homeowner from his sleep. When we checked, the couch in the living room was already on fire. “He was still trying to put out the fire with a fire extinguisher. However, it was already too late, ”says Stefan Valthe from the Weissensee Fire Department. Flames quickly spread across the entire building. The Upper Carinthian and his wife were barely able to save themselves, but help came too late for their two cats, a dog and a budgie. A infected cell phone triggers the fire “A cell phone plugged in next to the sofa may have triggered the devastating fire,” adds Valthe. “The smoke alarm saved the lives of the two residents!” The couple experienced a wave of helpfulness. “You are faced with nowhere! Except for the clothes on the body, everything fell victim to the flames and the water used to extinguish the fire, ”says Mayor Karoline Turnschek, when the phones are overheating. “Everyone wants to help.” The community has therefore set up its own donation account: AT32 3932 2000 3020 1289
