Marseille: garbage collectors end their strike

Last Wednesday, the Metropolis and the other unions had reached a first agreement, putting an end to a strike started on November 25. Following this movement, the garbage collectors had obtained a reduction of hardship of 15% for the agents whose missions are recognized difficult (amounting to an annual working time of 1397 hours) as well as a salary increase of 90 euros. It also ratified the establishment of a medical service dedicated to waste collection agents.

The FO union had, however, decided to continue the movement, judging this agreement “unsatisfactory”. In particular, he wanted to obtain a greater reduction in working time. However, he was the first to sign in early October an agreement on a 9.5% reduction in working time during a first round of negotiations following a first strike at the end of September.
