Matchpoint Tennis Championships, finally the next generation?

If the publisher, Kalypso, is indeed German, the fate of this new child of the ball (yellow) has been entrusted to the Torus Games teams. And if the studio’s CV mainly includes licensed games and mobile projects that are rarely reviewed on Gamekult, maybe Matchpoint will resonate with tennis game enthusiasts.

On the board side, the game will offer 16 players when it is released, with world number 2 Daniil Medvedev as headliner. Also present are Garbine Muguruza, Andrey Rublev, Casper Ruud, Hubert Hurkaczs, Nick Kyrgios, Heather Watson, Hugo Gaston, Madison Keys, Victoria Azarenka, Carlos Alcaraz, Pablo Carreno Busta, and our national Benoit Paire. They will also be joined by Taylor Fritz, Amanda Anisimova and Kei Nishikori, as seen in the videos accompanying the game announcement.

Logically, the developers insist on the notions of placement and positioning which will make all the difference – it’s a tennis game, in short – and on the presence of a career mode which will allow you to embody a personalized avatar up to the licensed clothing (Uniqlo, Head, etc.). As in other games of the genre, the use of a coach will compensate for strengths and weaknesses by taking part in training workshops between two tournaments – the famous mini-games which are supposed to offer a better understanding of the court. A function replay will also record your moments of glory.

For the rest, as usual, we will have to wait for a first contact to see how Matchpoint – Tennis Championships is heating up. Hoping that it is more pleasing than the last titles of the genre.
