PARIS (Agefi-Dow Jones) – The manufacturer of equipment for the production of green hydrogen McPhy announced on Tuesday that it had been selected as the preferred supplier to install a 100 megawatt (MW) electrolysis platform in Sines, Portugal, as part of the GreenH2Atlantic project.
Funded in part by the European Union, this project aims to demonstrate the viability of green hydrogen on a large scale. It is supported by an international consortium of 13 energy companies including EDP, Galp, Engie, Bondalti, Martifer and Vestas.
McPhy will supply a 100 MW electrolysis platform made up of 8 MW modules.
“This electrolysis platform must supply green hydrogen for industrial (refinery) and energy (injection into the gas network) uses, thus strengthening the link between renewable energies and industrial, mobility and energy applications. “, the group said in a statement.
“The general conditions have been negotiated and the supply agreement should be finalized during the first half of 2022”, added the group.
Construction of the platform should begin in 2023 for operation to begin in 2025, subject to obtaining the necessary authorizations.
