An image that will be remembered. Two days after the death of Elizabeth II, this Saturday, September 10, the Fab Four was united in pain. For the first time in more than two years, Princes William and Harry and their wives, Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle, have put aside their differences to meet the British gathered in front of Windsor Castle. For long minutes, the Cambridges and the Sussexes stood together, shook hands, shared their pain with the public and admired the tributes paid to Her Majesty. The Duchess of Sussex shook hands with a large number of people, including a child who sat on her father’s shoulders. Proof that the mother of Archie and Lilibet is appreciated despite what we can read, she even received a bouquet of flowers offered by a family. The most incredible moment was whenshe approached a young woman, who couldn’t believe she was chatting to the former Suits actress. The girl put her hand to her mouth in shock before speaking to the Duchess of Sussex, then held out her arms and asked: “Can I give you a hug?” Meghan Markle nodded before leaning down and hugging her warmly. A particularly moving scene which has been widely commented on across the Channel.

This appearance of the Fab Four reunited for the first time in many months can be a sign of a reconciliation between the two brothers but also of an appeasement towards the Sussexes. Moreover, for his first speech as sovereign, King Charles III did not fail to have a tender thought for the couple: “I express my love to Harry and Meghan who continue to build their lives at the ‘foreign”.
